Se Cathedral

 
The cathedral of is one of the church most visited in Goa. One of popular tourist attractions in Goa, this church was in the beginning built out of mud and the stones and the straw. The cathedral of was also considered one of the largest church in Goa, India and in Asia. The initial construction which was set up in the year 1510 was devoted to the street Catherine. After several modification finally the second church entered to the existence in the year 1515. Shortly after the church reached the statute of the cathedral with the establishment of the diocese of Goa. The current structure of cathedral took the quarter approximately three one century to be achieved. The process of construction started in the year 1562 and was accomplished in 1652.

It was Portuguese viceroy, the DOM Francisco Coutinho, the account of Redondo (1561-1564) which had commissioned the construction of the building of church of cathedral of. The final construction of the building was directed by architects Antonio Argueiros and Julio Simao, chief engineer with the state of India. Building of church:
The frontage of the building of church faces the east. A flight of the staircases leads to a beautiful court. The building does not have once a ordering presence not seen outside. The size of the front part is approximately 115 2/3 foot and the width 100 4/3 foot. ; its overall length is of 250 feet and width 181 1/3 foot. The interior of church is simply majestic and has a ceiling jumped high. It there has 4 vaults on each side approximately 142 3/5 foot from length and 69 1/5 foot broad and is divided into nave and two islands. Towards the line devoted to the street Joseph, Nossa Senhora DAS Gild, and street Peter. Towards the left devoted to Nossa Senhora De Augusta, street George, and Nossa Senhora D 'Esperanza.
