Merely three
kilometers away from Panjim,
the capital city of Goa, and
one kilometer from Dona Paula
beach, Miramar beach offers
to its visitors some great opportunities
to relax and enjoy the sea.
The two kilometers long stretch
of golden sand witnesses also
the meeting of the Mandovi river
with the Arabian Sea. Also known
as “Gasper Dias”,
the name Miramar means viewing
the sea in Portuguese. While
the undercurrent of the sea
is very strong and makes the
beach unsuitable for swimming,
Miramar beach is best known
for evening walks along the
golden stretch. Highly commercialized,
the beach offers to its tourists
a great range of restaurants,
hotels, shacks and beach resorts,
among others.
Do not miss the sunsets when
visiting the Miramar beach.
Though humid, the beach enjoys
a temperate and pleasant climate
from October to May. However,
the best time to visit the beach
is from November to March. Owing
to its prime location, locals
often throng to the Miramar
beach to enjoy an evening out
near the Sea. Offering a spectacular
view of the Aguada fort, Miramar
beach is among the busiest beaches
in Goa. Tourists find a great
range of accommodations in Miramar
beach, for its close proximity
to some of the major tourist
attractions in Goa. Some of
these include Goa Marriot Resort,
The Majestic Resort and Blue
Bay Resort. There is also the
option of renting exclusive
homes at the Rocky point in
Miramar.
Besides the exotic sunsets,
you can also enjoy viewing the
friendly dolphins from this
beach. Tourists however must
arrange for their own gears,
in case interested in other
water sports. During winters,
scores of migratory birds flock
the region, such as Plovers
and Gulls, which want to escape
the harsh winters back home.
Dona Paula is a popular destination
near Miramar beach, the latter
often being a stopgap for many
tourists.
